These are the rules for using the Collinsville Daily News Community Calendar at calendar.collinsvilledailynews.com and the calendar modules on www.collinsvilledailynews.com (together, "the calendar"). Plain language on purpose. If you have a question, email info@collinsvilledailynews.com.
The calendar is published by Collinsville Daily News, a publication of Malench Publishing LLC, an Illinois limited liability company ("the paper," "we," "us"). It is built and operated for us by Rendered HQ LLC, an Illinois limited liability company. Your agreement is with the paper.
Reading the calendar is free and needs no account. By using it, posting an event, or paying for anything on it, you agree to these terms.
You agree not to:
You must be at least 13 to post an event, and at least 18 to pay for anything.
Listings come from three places: events people post here; events we gather from public sources such as venues, organizations, schools, and ticketing sites; and events we add ourselves. We review posted events before they appear.
We work to keep listings accurate, but dates, times, prices, and locations change. The organizer, not the paper, is responsible for the event itself. Check with the organizer before you go. Some listings use illustrative stock images rather than photos of the actual event.
To correct a listing, or to ask us to remove one, email info@collinsvilledailynews.com.
Copyright. If you believe a listing or image on the calendar infringes your copyright, email info@collinsvilledailynews.com with the link to the listing, a description of the work you own, your contact details, and a statement that you believe in good faith the use is not authorized. We will remove or disable the material promptly while we look into it, and we may pass your complaint to the person who posted it. We may refuse further posts from anyone who repeatedly posts material they have no right to share.
When you post an event, you give us the event details, your email, and optionally a photo. You confirm that the details are accurate, that you have the right to share them and the photo, and that publishing them breaks no law and no one's rights.
You let the paper, and anyone who later owns the paper, publish, edit, shorten, and share the listing and photo, free of charge, in the calendar and its data feed, on the paper's websites and modules, and in the paper's print and email products. Photos are resized and re-encoded, so a photo may appear at a different size or crop than the one you sent. Others may link to and quote the listing as section 9 allows. You keep ownership of what you post and may use it anywhere else.
We decide what appears on the calendar. We may edit, decline, or remove any listing at any time. We will usually tell you why, but we don't have to, and we may not notify you if we decline a post. The acknowledgement email you receive confirms we got your post. It is not a promise to publish it.
A Featured Event is a paid placement that shows an event more prominently on the calendar, with a "Sponsored" tag. The price is shown at checkout ($30 today). Four paid Featured Events run at a time; the paper may also feature its own picks, which are not counted against that. Here is how it works:
Featuring an event is placement, not endorsement. Once we approve a Featured Event and the charge completes, the payment is not refundable, including if the event is later canceled or postponed. If we made an error, tell us and we will put it right.
The Calendar Sponsor is the presenting spot on the calendar, shown as "presented by" your business. One sponsor holds it at a time. The price is shown when we send you the rate ($150 per month today).
Sponsorship is a monthly subscription. It renews automatically each month, on the same day of the month it started, and continues until it is canceled. To cancel, email info@collinsvilledailynews.com before your next renewal date. Your sponsorship then runs to the end of the month you have paid for, and that month is not refunded.
If we end a sponsorship, it runs to the end of the period you paid for and does not renew.
Your business name, your logo, and your tagline stay yours. When you send them to us you confirm they are yours to use, and you let the paper show them on the calendar, in the calendar blocks on the paper's own pages, and in its data feed while your sponsorship runs. Logos are resized, so yours may appear at a different size than the one you sent.
Sponsor content must be lawful, accurate, and suitable for a general audience. We may decline or take down sponsor content that isn't. Sponsorship is display, not an endorsement by the paper.
Support the Calendar contributions are voluntary payments to the paper, either one-time or monthly. They are not donations to a charity and are not tax-deductible. Monthly support renews automatically until canceled. To cancel, email info@collinsvilledailynews.com. Canceling stops the next monthly payment. Payments already made are not refunded.
The paper is the seller. Payments are processed by Stripe through the paper's own Stripe account, and the name on your card statement is the one the paper set in that account. You enter your card details on Stripe's secure checkout page, and neither the paper nor the company that runs the calendar for us ever sees your full card number. Prices are in US dollars. Stripe may email you a receipt. If a payment option is not shown on the calendar, it is not available yet.
You may link to any calendar page, and you are welcome to.
Search engines and AI assistants may index the calendar so people can find local events. You may link to listings and quote them. The calendar's data feed, meaning the address that returns listings as data, is for personal use unless we agree otherwise in writing. You may not use the calendar or its feed to train AI models. We may withdraw or change these permissions by updating these terms.
The paper's name, its logo, its colors, its own writing, and its own photographs are the paper's.
The software that runs the calendar, the design behind it, the blocks that show these events on the paper's other pages, and the Rendered name and logo belong to Rendered HQ LLC, the company that built the calendar and runs it for the paper.
Some parts belong to other people and are used with their permission: the typefaces, the map and the software that draws it, the icons, and the stock photographs that stand in when an event has no photo of its own.
Facts about events belong to no one, and you are welcome to them. The way we choose, review, and arrange the listings is ours. What you post stays yours, as section 4 explains.
The calendar is provided as is. To the extent Illinois law allows, we make no warranties about it, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, for events that are canceled or changed, or for anything an organizer does. If we are liable to you for anything connected to the calendar, our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. These limits also protect the company that builds and runs the calendar for the paper, and any company that ran it before. That company owes you nothing under these terms, and this sentence gives you no claim against it. Nothing in these terms limits liability that the law says can't be limited.
We may update these terms. The version and effective date at the top will change when we do. If you keep using the calendar after a change, you accept the new terms. If a change affects something you're paying for, we'll email you before it takes effect.
Illinois law governs these terms. Any dispute will be heard in the state courts of Madison County, Illinois, or in the federal court for the Southern District of Illinois, and you agree to that venue.
