Collinsville Daily News Community Calendar Privacy Notice

This notice explains what the Collinsville Daily News Community Calendar at calendar.collinsvilledailynews.com and the calendar modules on www.collinsvilledailynews.com collect about you, and what we do with it. Plain language on purpose. Questions: info@collinsvilledailynews.com.

1. Who is responsible

Collinsville Daily News, a publication of Malench Publishing LLC, is responsible for your information. Rendered HQ LLC builds and runs the calendar for us and handles your information only on our instructions.

2. What we collect, and when

Reading the calendar. No account, no sign-in, and no tracking cookie. We count page views by day, in total, by page or module, without recording who viewed them. Our servers see your device's IP address in order to deliver pages and to limit abuse, and routine server logs may keep it briefly. Your browser stores a few small settings: a dismissed tip, whether you closed the install prompt, your screen's layout, and a half-hour marker so a refresh is not counted as a second view. If you install the calendar to your home screen, your browser handles that.

Posting an event. The event details, your email, and any photo you upload. We use these to review and publish the listing, to send you an acknowledgement, and to contact you about the listing. Your email is not shown on the calendar. Anything you put in the event details, including a phone number, is published if the listing is.

Asking about sponsorship. Your business name, your name, your email, and your message. We use these to reply and to send you the rate.

Paying for something. Your name and email, and what you bought. The paper is the seller, and Stripe collects your card details on its own checkout page under its own privacy policy. The paper's Stripe account holds the payment history, including the last four digits of your card. The calendar itself keeps a confirmation and a reference number, never your full card number.

Signing in as staff. The paper's staff sign in to run the calendar. That uses a session cookie. Readers never do.

3. How we use it

To run the calendar, review listings, process payments, send the emails described above, reply to you, keep the records the law and our accountants require, and protect the calendar from abuse.

We do not sell your information. We do not use it for advertising or share it with advertisers. We do not add you to marketing lists, and posting an event does not sign you up for anything. There is no third-party analytics or ad tracking on the calendar.

4. Who we share it with

• Rendered HQ LLC, Illinois, which operates the calendar for us. Its support staff can sign in to the calendar's staff tools to maintain them, and copies of the calendar's staff notifications, such as a new post, may go to its operations mailbox.
• Stripe, which processes payments.
• Resend, which delivers the emails the calendar sends.
• DigitalOcean, which hosts the calendar's servers in the United States.
• OpenStreetMap and unpkg, which serve the map tiles and the map software when you open the map. They see your device's IP address when that happens. Separately, our own servers look up venue addresses with OpenStreetMap's address service; that happens on our side, not yours, and it sends the venue address, never anything about you.
• The person who posted a listing, if you send us a copyright complaint about it.
• Anyone who buys the paper or the calendar, if that happens, so it can keep running.
• Anyone we are legally required to share it with, such as in response to a court order.

If you post an event, the event details and photo become public on the calendar and in the paper's modules. A photo you upload is stored on our servers, and it is not shown to anyone but the paper's staff unless the listing is published. The email you give on the form is not shown.

5. Events from public sources

Some listings are gathered from public web pages and feeds published by venues, organizations, schools, and ticketing sites. These contain event details and sometimes an organizer's published contact information. If you are named in such a listing and want it changed or removed, email info@collinsvilledailynews.com.

6. How long we keep it

• Listings stay in the calendar's archive.
• The email that came with a post, and sponsorship inquiries: until you ask us to delete them. [BUILD: a periodic clean-up at two years, then state it here.]
• Emails the calendar sent you: the text is removed after two years; the record that an email was sent is kept.
• Payment records: at least seven years, for tax and accounting purposes.
• Page-view counts: kept as totals indefinitely. They never identify anyone.

7. Your choices

Email info@collinsvilledailynews.com to correct or remove a listing you posted, to correct or delete the personal details you gave us, to cancel a subscription, or to ask what information we hold about you. We will do so except for records we must keep, such as payment records. If a privacy law gives you additional rights, we will honor them.

8. Children

The calendar is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has given us information, email info@collinsvilledailynews.com and we will delete it.

9. Security

The calendar is served over HTTPS. Access to your information is limited to the paper's staff, Rendered HQ LLC, and the services listed in section 4. Card details are handled by Stripe, not stored by us. Photos you upload are re-encoded, which strips location data from them. No system is perfectly secure, but these are the measures in place.

10. Changes

We may update this notice. The version and effective date at the top will change when we do.
