The Community Calendar at calendar.collinsvilledailynews.com is our free listing of what is happening around town: concerts, church suppers, story times, ball games, and club meetings. Anyone can read it without signing up, and anyone can post an event to it for free.

No to both. There is no account, no password, and nothing to sign in to. Open the calendar and everything is already there. Reading it is free, posting your own event is free, and you do not need Facebook or any other account to use it. We ask for an email address only if you post an event of your own.
The Collinsville Daily News calendar covers Collinsville, Edwardsville, Maryville, Glen Carbon, Troy, Fairmont City, and Caseyville. Our sister paper, the Granite City Daily News, keeps its own calendar for Granite City, Pontoon Beach, Madison, and Venice.
Each paper has its own calendar, and the two do not share listings. If your event matters to both towns, post it to each one.
Open calendar.collinsvilledailynews.com in Safari on an iPhone or Chrome on an Android phone, scroll to the bottom of the page, and tap "Add this calendar to your phone". On an iPhone it walks you through tapping Share, then "Add to Home Screen", then "Add". On Android it is the three dots menu at the top right, then "Install app" or "Add to Home screen", then "Add".
There is nothing to get from an app store. Safari and Chrome can save a web page so its icon sits with your other apps, and that is all this is. It keeps a copy of the pages on your phone, so it opens quickly and still works when your signal is weak. It cannot send you notifications, and it does not ask for your location or your contacts. To remove it, press and hold the icon, the same as any other app. The calendar works just as well in Safari or Chrome on a computer or a tablet.
Along the top are buttons for Today, This Weekend, This Week, This Month, and All. Tap one and the list shows only those days. The category filter narrows it further, and you can clear it by setting it back to "All categories". The search box looks through events and venues, so you can type a town or the name of a library.
Tap Map to see events as pins, with "View details" and "Directions" on each one. Only events with an address we could place appear on the map, so the map usually shows fewer events than the list. The calendar never asks for your location and has no way to find it.
Facebook, Instagram, and Messenger open links inside their own browser rather than in Safari or Chrome. Everything on the calendar works there, but that browser has no address bar, and it cannot add the calendar to your phone. If you want the icon on your home screen, tap the three dots or the Share button and choose "Open in Safari" or "Open in Chrome" first, then follow the steps above.
Yes. Open any event and tap "Add to Calendar" to put the date, time, and place into the calendar app on your phone or computer. If the event repeats, you can add all of its dates at once. Every event also has a Share button, and the link opens straight to that event, so you can text it or email it.
Because most of what we gather is not published yet. Libraries, schools, and city halls tend to post a season at a time, so the months just ahead are full and the ones further out fill in as they go. If you run something that is already on the books for next year, posting it now is genuinely useful.
Two ways to chip in, and both are optional. "Support the Calendar" is a one-off amount, with $5, $10 and $25 offered as quick choices. "Become a member" is $5 a month, and you can cancel it whenever you like. Neither one is required to read the calendar or to post an event, and neither buys a listing or changes how we review one. The money goes to the paper and helps keep local news going.
We do. We publish it, our staff reviews what goes on it, and any money paid for a listing comes to us. It was built by Rendered Digital, an Illinois company that keeps it running for us, on our instructions. The Terms name both companies.
Tap "Submit an Event" at the top of the page. Fill in the title, date, start time, venue, category, admission, and a short description, add a photo if you have one, then add your email so we can confirm it arrived. Churches, clubs, scout troops, schools, bands, libraries, and businesses all post here on the same terms. It is free, and there is nothing to sign up for. You need to be at least 13 to post, and at least 18 to pay for anything.
Someone here reads every submission, and nothing goes live on its own. Our editors decide what belongs on the calendar and may trim a listing for length or clarity. We can also decline one, and we cannot always write back to say why. Send your event in as early as you can, especially for a weekend. If a few days go by and you do not see it, email us at info@collinsvilledailynews.com.
Not from the form, which has no field for one. If your event has a ticket page or a sign-up page, put the address in the description and email us at info@collinsvilledailynews.com, and we can add it as a proper link. Listings we gather from a venue's own site usually carry theirs already.
Yes, though not from the form, because there is nothing to log into. Email us at info@collinsvilledailynews.com and tell us what changed. We will update the listing or take it down. If the event is called off, please do tell us, so nobody drives over for nothing.
Yes, and one good photo makes a listing stand out. Tap "Add a photo" and pick any picture from your phone or computer. A wide photo looks best, but any size works.
The photo stays yours. Sending it lets us publish it with your listing on the calendar, on our websites, and in our print and email editions, so please send only a photo you took or have the right to share. Every photo is resized and saved again, which keeps the whole picture but makes it smaller, and which also strips out the hidden data a phone writes into a picture, including where it was taken. If we decline your listing, the photo goes with it.
Send one submission for each date. A posted event does not repeat on its own, so each date appears as its own listing. If that is a long run of dates, put the full schedule in the description and email us at info@collinsvilledailynews.com, and we will sort it out with you. The form will ask you to slow down if you send a lot in a few minutes, so take a short break and carry on.
We ask for it so we can confirm your post arrived and reach you about that one listing. It is never shown on the calendar. Posting does not sign you up for a newsletter or any mailing list, and we do not sell it or pass it to advertisers. Once your listing is settled, ask us and we will delete your address. The Privacy Notice is the full account.
Three places: events people post here, events we gather from public sources such as libraries, schools, city halls, churches, and venues, and events our own staff add. We watch around twenty local sources and check them every day. Gathering is usually the answer if you find your own event on the calendar and never posted it.

Plenty of listings reach us with no photo at all, so rather than leave a blank card we use a picture that suits the kind of event. It is there to help you pick a listing out of a long list, not to show you the actual place or the actual people. If it is your event, we would rather run your own photo, so send one to info@collinsvilledailynews.com.
Email us at info@collinsvilledailynews.com, say which listing, and we will fix it or take it down. We check what we publish, but times, prices, and locations change after we post them. The organizer runs the event, not us, so it is always worth a quick call or a look at their page before you set out.
First make sure nothing is hiding it. Tap All at the top, empty the search box, and set the category filter back to "All categories". If it is still missing, we probably do not have it, because nobody posted it and none of the sources we watch list it. You can put it up yourself with "Submit an Event", or email us at info@collinsvilledailynews.com and we will take a look.
The listings are not. Event wording comes from the organizer who posted it, from the public page we gathered it from, or from our own staff. The software that tidies listings only fixes spacing and formatting. It never adds facts and never rewrites what the organizer wrote. The pages that explain the calendar, including this one, were drafted with the help of AI writing tools and checked against the software by a person here before they went up.
Yes. A Featured Event is $30 for one event. It carries a "Sponsored" label wherever it appears, and if it has a photo it can also show up in the Spotlight, the large card above the listings. Events stay in date order whether or not they are featured, so featuring makes an event stand out rather than move it to the top. Four paid Featured Events run at a time; if they are all taken, the checkout says so and you can try again later.
The event has to exist on the calendar first, so post it and wait for it to appear. Then open it and use the Feature button. Your card is checked and the amount is set aside at that point, but nothing is taken until we approve the listing. If we decline it, nothing is taken and the money on hold goes back to your card. The Terms set out the detail.
No. Once we approve a Featured Event the payment is final, even if the event is later called off. We chose a plain rule over one that depends on judgement, and the Terms say so plainly. If something has gone genuinely wrong, write to us anyway.
One business at a time presents the whole calendar. Your name, your logo, a short line about you, and a link sit in a card at the top of the calendar, introduced as "presented by" your business. It is $150 a month, it renews monthly, and you can stop it by email whenever you like. It runs to the end of the month you have paid for, and that month is not refunded.
We do. Payments go to the paper's own account. The company that built the calendar takes no share of what you pay.
Our payment processor emails it as soon as the charge goes through. On your statement the charge appears as COLLINSVILLEDAIL, followed by EDWARDSVILLE IL. Both papers are billed through one account in the publisher’s name, so that is the line to look for whichever calendar you bought from. If you cannot find the receipt, email info@collinsvilledailynews.com and we will send it again.
